Easter Message: FORGIVENESS
Hi 5th Grade,
Here is a link to the video we watch this morning. Isn't this what Easter is about? I hope you were touched and inspired. I pray that you will all have a peaceful, meaningful and joyous Easter.

Chapel Reflection
Hi 5th Grade,
What a great message from Mr. James this morning in chapel! It was pretty much what we've been talking about all year!
Please leave a comment answering the following 2 questions. Then, leave comments on your classmates to encourage them to use their uniqueness to love their neighbor!
Have a great night!
How has God made you unique?
How do you think God can use your "uniqueness" to further His Kingdom?

Reminders for tomorrow's field trip
Hi 5th Grade,
Aren't you all super excited about tomorrow's field trip. Here are some answers to the FAQs.
When do we need to arrive at school? no later than 7 a.m.
When will we return to school? We should be back to school between 4:30 to 5:00. Please make sure you make arrangments to be picked up at school at that time.
How should we dress? I am expecting you all to be in formal business attire. While a tie is not necessary for boys, I encourage you to dress your best, nonetheless. Girls, you should be in a dress or skirt or something else that you consider appropriate for business.
Do I need to bring any money?
No. Everything will be provided for you on the trip. But, if you want to pack a "healthy" snack, please do so. It looks like only junk food (e.g. McDonalds will be served).
Can I bring electronics on the trip? No. If you want to bring a cell phone, however, you can bring one if absolutely necessary. I will only allow you to use it when you are on the bus coming home 30 minutes out to tell your parents you are almost home.
Can I bring a camera? No. I will take all pictures. I don't want you to be distracted during the day. I'm a GREAT photographer!!! Don't worry.
Can we bring Caddie Woodlawn to read on the bus? YES!!!
Can we bring an AR book? YES!!!
JT...no electronics! Please don't cry.
Can I bring something else to read? YES!!!
Can I practice my recorder on the bus? NO!!!
Can we bring a blanket/pillow on the bus? NO!!!
Is this an awesome trip? YES
Are we going to have a great time? YES
Am I going to be late tomorrow morning? NO

Penderwicks Test Info
Here is the review sheet for the Penderwick Test tomrrow. Study hard...it's worth it. Our class goal is still to have every member of the class to get an A or B! The reward will be tasty!
Also, a reminder that the Penderwick Vocab Oral Assessment is rescheduled to Friday, not tomorrow. I want you to focus on studying tonight.
Section 1 - Speech Recognition
Identify the speaker, who is being spoken to and what is happening in the novel when it is being said
- 10 quotations x 3 marks = 30 marks total
Study suggestion: Do a short plot summary for each chapter so that it is clear in your head which characters are involved and what they do
Section 2 - Socratic Questions
These are the 4 Socratic Questions we did in class. Question 1 will not be all 4 characters but you should still prepare all 4 just in case.
- 4 questions x 5 marks = 20 marks total
Section 3 - Paragraph Response
This is the Paragraph Response we talked about in class. Only change...the paragraph will be out of 15 vs. 10. Why? I want to give you 5 marks for Organization and 10 marks for Ideas and Content
- 15 marks total
BONUS QUESTION: You'll find out tomorrow!!!

Penderwick Chocolate-Chip Cookie Bake-Off Results!
Thank you to all the participants of the 1st Annual Penderwick Chocolate-Chip Cookie Bake-Off (PC3BO)! It was lots of fun and I hope you enjoyed sampling lots and lots of cookies this morning. Despite there being winners and losers, aren't we all winners? We all were able to eat yummy cookies!!!
How did I come up with the results? With the help of Mrs. Goh (please thank her the next time you see her...nothing happens in our home without her), we inputted every one of the over 350+ scores into MS Excel. Then, we took out the highest and lowest scores from each category for each cookie (aka the "outliers"). Then I took the average (mean) for each category. Then, I took the mean of each cookie's scores to come up with an overall score out of 100.
First, the honorable mentions...
These cookies didn't place in the top 3 but had the highest scores in individual categories (first to third place cookies were excluded).
MOST BEAUTIFUL COOKIE - Joshua B (Cookie #3)
MOST DELICIOUS COOKIE - Joshua V (Cookie #5)
COOKIE WITH BEST TEXTURE - Madison W (Cookie #12)
Now...for the winners of the 1st Annual PC3BO
1. Madison Peters (Cookie #8) - Overall Score = 86.1
2. Rachel Saint (Cookie #2) - Overall Score = 82.6
3. Addison Vaughn (Cookie #13) - Overall Score = 82.1
The overall results in cookie order.
Apppearance/Taste/Texture = Overall Score
Thank you Mrs. Kelso for taking and sending these yummy pictures to me!
Thank you to all the parents who came to taste test too!
