  1. 1. My favorite part of the spot trip was building the forts, eating lunch, and doing the outreach.

    2. I think that the most important thing that I learned about poverty is that most people who are poor and homeless didnt do it to themselves and aren't lazy.

    3. I think that what I can do to help out people in poverty is I can give some of my own time this summer to go to the Spot and help out

    I. My favorite part of the trip was building the cardboard houses even though ours fell down in the middle of the night!

II. The most important thing I learned was that not all of the people in poverty are lazy and don't want to work but are born into poverty or can't get a job.

III. I think that I can make a difference by saving money to give to organizations like the Spot or just volunteering.

I really agree with your 2nd answer Madison W! At first I thought all the people in poverty were lazy but than I learned I was wrong about some people.

  4. 1) My favorite part of the trip was building the forts and talking to my group at 2 in the morning. We were talking about the foods we wanted most at that time.i also loved helping Gabby with the little kids.

    2) I think learning to put myself in poor people's shoes was the most important thing i learned at the spot.Until this trip i had a hard time imagining what it would be like to slip under the poverty line.

    3) As a 5th grader there isn't much I can do to help people get back on their feet, but with 19 5th graders we can do a lot. I could raise money and give it to organizations like the spot.

  8. 1. My favorite part of the spot field trip is building the shelters and packing the grocery bags.

    2. I learned that all the people at the spot weren't exactly "poor". They just needed food because the spent ALL their money on drugs and other bad things.

3.One thing I can do is build a lemonade stand and raise money for any organizations that help the poor and the needy.Another thing I can do is a can share this movie with my family and friends and volunteer at the spot every month.

  12. 1. My favorite part of the trip was building the cardboard shelters and of course, winning. :) I also enjoyed spending time with my classmates!!!

    2. The most important thing that I learned about the poverty and the homeless is that they do not choose to be that way and that it can just be because you have gotten in a accident and you are disabled and can't work. It can also be that they lost their job and can't find a new job so you can't make money to provide for your family.

    3. Something that I can realistically do to make the poverty rate in America is by donating. I can donate food and money to organizations like the Spot so that when the homeless come, they will be able to provide for them.
