Founding Story -- International China Concern

Here is the video we watched today in class.  Some powerful stuff.  As you respond to this video in your writing journals tonight, consider how you can be involved as a class.  As a start, we are going to be working together in class to put together a package for Emily to take to China.  Hopefully, this will be a project where we can make a real difference in the lives of these children.

  6. Hey 5th Graders. It's one thing to be sad...it's another thing to take your emotions and put them into action. Human nature is to feel sad about a situation and then forget about it. God nature is to see need and respond in love.

  8. Hi 5th Grade... I agree, there is some sadness being shown to you all in this video, but I also think you are all missing a major point of this video... David Gotts went to college and into the workforce to make money and at only 19 years old, God placed a burden on his heart for the Chinese orphans. While David surely found sadness in his visits through the orphanages, he also felt a calling to do something to improve the situation. As a result, he has spent more than a decade of his life helping orphaned children get medical care and love and many have been adopted by loving families. Our little boy has been loved and cared for by ICC over the past 3-1/2 years while he has waited for our family to find him. His story may never have gone this way if it were not for David Gotts hearing God's call and following it. This is the same for so many of the children that have been cared for by ICC. Many of us hear God calling for us to do something, but it is an entirely different thing to actually step out of our comfort zone and do it. My prayer for each of you is for you to grow in your love of Christ to the place where you not only hear God's call but that you feel the desire to act upon it.

    Love,
    Mrs. J. :)

  9. I think that one thing, yes that is very sad , but also 100's of kids died because the people running the orphanage didn't know what to do with the kids so they just stuck them in a room waiting to die. I hope we will all make something that will put more smiles on these faces. I really think that it is awesome that God changed the guys heart like that when he walked into the orphanage and saw all those children being left like that!!! No one to talk to or play with. I am so excited to go to China and give some stuff to the orphanage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
