Reflection on the Red Sea account in Exodus

As mentioned earlier, the parting of the Red Sea account in Exodus is one of my favorites.  Each time I read the account in Exodus, however, I am always disturbed at the faithless nature of the Israelite people.  Despite God's constant revealing of himself through the cloud and the pillar of fire, despite the countless miraculous acts, the Israelites continue to be a complaining and faithless nation.

Please comment on how you are similar and/or dissimilar from the Israelites.  What personal life lessons can you learn from the parting of the Red Sea?

Also, respond to another classmates' comments and let them know your thoughts.

  1. One of the life lessons in this is to trust and be faithful to God which is not what the Isrealites were doing. We are all like this.Like when we want something and we get it we do not thank God.That's what I think about this story.

  12. When we get little things we don't really think about god but when we get big things we ussually praise god. The israelites got a big thing, god saved their lives, and they probably praised god for a few minutes and then just starated forgetting god was there and they were ungrateful. By the way, you guys need to give me a new nickname cause this one is getting old. Somebody with a good imagination give me on haha! ;)

  18. Sorry I am posting so late at night, I forgot.

When we think of the Israelites we think "who would forget God after a miracle like the parting of the Red Sea?!" But, in reality, we are all people and we would do the same thing. That really helps me to remember God.

    OK, who is really creeper?,

  21. I think that the Israelites just prayed and praised to God for few min. We all need to get God first in our hearts, then others, and we are third. We all should praise him in what ever you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do what Israelites did only praised God for just a min.
